lakorn
tv mini-series
(1999-2003)
Art began his television miniseries or Lakorn career beautifully starring opposite Emma Warrarat Suwarnarat in a colt classic 'Petch Ta Meaw.' In 1998, before signed on to star in this Kantana Production mega hit for Ch. 5, Emma had just won her title as Miss Asia Pacific 1997 and deemed the hottest woman in Thailand. Directed by one of Thailand'sBest Ta Niratisai Kanjaleuk of Kantana Dynasty, Petch Ta Maew was shot in less than 3 months in 1997 and debuted on Ch. 5 in February of 1998 and quickly became a hit, making Art & Emma an instant star.
Riding on the success of Petch Ta Meaw, Art signed on to star opposite yet another new comer Sririta Jensen in what would became his biggest hit and best work to date, 'Sapan Dao.' Written by fame novelist 'Thomayantee', 'Sapan Dao' is a socially charged novel, dealing with subject matters that most Thai people preferred not to talk about, homosexual and poverty. Thomayantee used her words beautifully and effectively to remind the readers of how living a moral life would lead to a happy ending and help for a better Thai society. Originally Kantana intended to produce 'Sapan Dao' to fill the primetime spot on the freshly launched New Ch. 5.
Directed by one of Kantana's top director, Thapakorn Disayanum, Sapan Dao wrapped in only 2 months, a record time for any Thai mini-series production at the time. Unbeknownst to Art, Kantana big boss Tukta Disayanun was so impressed with his performance and the flawless production that she knew she had a hit in her hand fit for CH. 7, Thailand most watched television station. Though realising that it's almost impossible that a mini-series with a relatively new star in the leading role would be given a chance landing a primetime airing slot, Tukta decided to go for it.
Despite Art's new star status but impressed with the production and the unusual story line, Ch. 7 head boss ordered 15 episodes of 'Sapan Dao.' Her instinct of having a hit in her hand proved to be very beneficial for Ch. 7. Airing on Wednesday & Thursday nights primetime slot, 'Sapan Dao' was a major critical and commercial success upon its premier on Ch. 7 in May 1999.
Since its debut, 'Sapan Dao' has been widely regarded as Art's masterpiece, with particular praise singled out for his acting. During his prime years as an actor, Art had an opportunity to star opposite some of Thailand's Best Leading Female in some of the most memorable series of all time, like 'Epring, Khon Rerng Muang'.
